Sabal palmetto (Walter) Loddiges ex J.A. & J.H. Schultes — Cabbage Palmetto

Habitat:

Maritime forests, marsh edges, and other near-coastal communities. Periodic disturbance by hurricanes helps maintain populations of Sabal palmetto, which survives winds and flooding that topple or kill Quercus virginiana.
